Iva was upbeat, knowledgable, and made San Jose's history one to remember. My favorite parts included visiting a local coffee shop (when in Costa Rica coffee is a must, right?) and having ice cream in the Central Market (Mercado Central). Do not miss this tour!

We enjoyed visiting the market and a traditional coffee shop in between historic sights. We really had a great time and left knowing much more about San Jose. Nacho was awesome!

We sampled some insanely good coffee and never felt pressured to buy any coffee, however we did purchase some that we sampled. Iva made the tour a highlight of our trip and we came away feeling even more curious and fascinated about coffee. Pura Vida!

  We booked the market tour for the same day, luckily they confirmed right away. Our tour guide was Ama (Amaral) and was easy to spot at the meeting place. We... read more started in the entrance of the Central Theatre to check out the statues, walked though the lovely church near by and proceeded to the market. The market is kind of like an enclosed flea market with everything from house hold supplies, meats, shoes to souvenir trinkets.

Ama made this tour absolutely delightful, sharing his passion and love for his hometown. We tried about 6 larger samples that were included in the tour price, ranging from chicharones con carne, coffee, fruits to the oldest ice cream in San Jose. If we weren’t so full, I would have loved a larger serving of the unique ice cream. So delicious! Also, I grew up eating tamales, but have never had a Costa Rican tomale which are creamy, rich and better than any I’ve ever had! Looking forward to getting more before our departure.
